President declares the National emergency under Article 352.

Explanation:

1. National emergency declared under the circumstances of war or external aggression or armed rebellion.

2. Previously, the third rationale was of internal disturbance, through 44th constitutional amendment act, armed rebellion was replaced by internal disturbance.

3. First national emergency is declared in 1975 by the Congress government, it was severely criticised by the political scientists.

4. National emergency was approved by the both houses of parliament and continuation of it for indefinite period is possible only by the approval of every six months and revocation was approved by Lok Sabha only.
