Newton's third law of motion describes the relationship between the forces that come into play when two bodies interact with each other.
" To every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction."
Forces in nature always occur between pairs of bodies. Forces exerted on body A by body B is equal and opposite to the force exerted on the body B by A.
● Newton's trailer of motion is applicable irrespective of the nature of the forces.
● Action and reaction always act on different bodies.
If acting on the same body, the result in first should be zero and there would be never accelerated motion.
● The forces of action and reaction cannot cancel each other.
This is because action and reaction though are equal and opposite always act on different bodies and so can not balance each other.
● No action can occur in the absence of reaction.
For example, in a tug-of-war, one team can pull the room only rest other team is pulling the other end of the rope. No force can be exerted if the other side is free.
One team exerts the force of action and the other team provides the force of reaction.
