Question :-

Explain nitrogen fixation and nitrogen cycle.

Answer :-

The nitrogen cycle is a natural phenomenon in which the nitrogen is fixed used by the plant and animals and later returns to the atmosphere.

Nitrogen fixation is the process by which the nitrogen is taken from the atmosphere and is converted into other nitrogen compounds. Nitrogen fixation accused naturally during lightning or the nitrogen fixing bacteria or blue green algae. Below is the process of nitrogen fixation by The Luminous plants :

Once the nitrogen compounds are formed with the help of nitrogen fixing bacteria located in the root nodules of the leguminous plant, they are used by the plants. As the plant serve themselves as food the nitrogen compounds can be used by animal. When these plants and animals die the nitrogen compounds present in their bodies are decomposed and returned to the soil. Some of these nitrogen compounds are used by the plants again while others reach the atmosphere.
