Nucleosomes, Chromatin, and Chromosomes. A nucleosome is a structure in your chromosomes, or bundled DNA. Eachnucleosome has a core particle, DNA, and a linker protein. The proteins in the core particle and linker proteins are called histones

A nucleosome is a basic unit of DNA packaging in eukaryotes, consisting of a segment of DNA wound in sequence around eight histone protein cores.
This structure is often compared to thread wrapped around a spool.
