It is a classification system in which it deals with the grouping by numerical methods of taxonomic units based on their character states. It uses numeric algorithms like cluster analysis rather than using subjective evaluation of their properties.

numericla taxonomy is carried out using computers and is based on all observable charecterisitics.numbers and codes are assigned to all the characters and the data are then processed.in this way each character is given equal importance and at the same time hundreds of characters can be considered.
