Fungal nutrition are of different types i.e. saprotrophic, parasitic or symbiotic. Most of the fungus is saprotrophs obtains the nutrients from the dead and decaying organic matter. Saprotrophs releases digestive juice on the dead matter and convert them to liquid form of nutrients which are taken as food. Such nutrition is called as saprotrophic nutrition.

Fungi belongs to the member of
Eukaryotic family and they cannot prepare their own food, so they do not need carbon dioxide and light as a source of carbon for food.
- Saprophytic nutrition=It get attached and feed upon the dead decaying matter or organic matter and absorbs carbohydrate.Hence they decompose the organic matter into the earth.Example=molds, mushrooms, yeast, penicillium, and mucor etc.
- Parasitic fungi=They lived in the body of host by invading and derived their nutrients from living cytoplasm which may lead to disease and death of the host.Example=Ringworm, favus,epidermophytosis and tineaversicolor.
- Symbiotic fungi=It is a mode nutririon in which fungi live in association with other organisms and do not harm to that organism.Both get mutually benefit.Example=Lichen
