If the contacts of a lightbulb are submerged in an electrolyte solution, the lightbulb lights up when it detects an electrical current. When the solution is a strong electrolyte, the light shines brightly, but if the solution is a weak electrolyte, the light is dim. Nonelectrolyte solutions will not light the bulb.
