For eg Cu + O2 gives 2 Cuo So here, Cu gained O2 and became CuO It can be better understood by redox reactions Redox Reaction is a reactio in which , oxidation and reduction takes place simultaneously for eg CuO + H2 gives Cu +H2O Here, H2 gained O2 and became H2O And CuO loses O2 and becomes Cu.
