partial reflection
- Partial Reflection and Refraction occurs when a wave is travelling between two mediums. Some of the wave is reflected back and the rest is refracted through into the other medium.
- An example of this is the sun and the lake on a summer's day.
total internal reflection
- Total internal reflection is complete reflection of a ray of light within a medium such as water or glass from the surrounding surfaces back into the medium.
- The phenomenon occurs if the angle of incidence is greater than a certain limiting angle, called the critical angle.
