Answer :

Photo Decomposition :-

when decomposition is carried out by sunlight that's called photo Decomposition.

Example :

  • \rm \: 2AgCl \: (s) \: \xrightarrow{ sunlight}2Ag \: (s) + Cl_2 \: (g)

In the above reaction white Silver Chloride (AgCl) turns grey in sunlight. This is due to the decomposition of silver chloride into silver (Ag) and chlorine (Cl) by light.

  • *Photo Decomposition is a type of Decomposition reaction.

Decomposition Reaction :

Decomposition reaction is a reaction in which a single reactant breaks down to give two or more products.

Example :

  • \rm \: FeSo_4(s) \: \xrightarrow{ Heat}Fe_2O_3 (s) + So_2(g)+So_2(g)

In the above reaction a single reactant (FeSo4) breaks down to give two or more products (Fe2O3) ,(So2) and (So3).
