The Satyagraha movement was initiated by Gandhiji first in South Africa in 1894. It's meant the application of Saint force based on truth and nonviolence for the removal of a social or a political grievance.

In simple language, the philosophy of Satyagraha is a form of passive resistance which can be offered by a single individual as well as a group of person and aimed at changing the heart of the opponent by suffering.
