Answer:

After the ovum has been fertilized in the Fallopian tube, it begins to move forwards, slowly developing into a Morula and then, eventually, a Blastocyst. Then, the blastocyst undergoes implantation in the endometrium/uterus. As soon as the implantation has occured, the placenta begins to develop around the living organism, which is not yet fit to be called a baby. Placenta is essentially a flattened circular organ which provided nutrition to the foetus through the umbilical cord. It surrounds it, also protecting it from friction, mechanical injuries etc. Amnion is a similar sac.
