Potential energy is the energy possessed by a body by virtue of its height or strained configuration.

Example : A stretched rubber band , a winded spring etc....

Potential energy = mgh

m = mass
g = acceleration due to gravity
h = height

SI Unit is same as that of work --> Joule (J)
