Can we say people who have mobiles, TV, refrigerator, etc poor ? How poor ? What about people who cannot afford 2 meals a day ? Then there are people who can afford two meals but would like to have one meal and spend the rest on some basic necessities like cloths.

Western notion of malnourished child is also not suitable for all. Birth weight and subsequent growth is lot more dependent on genes. There are lots of differences within India also. Example birth weight in Kerala is 25% higher than those in Maharashtra for people of same income level for equal education level, for same amount of nutrition that mother had, for similar sized parents.

NREGA of UPA was extremely successful here but not in way it was intended to be but nevertheless it was successful. It raised minimum wages. People started refusing low paid jobs because they had a alternative.

Lower middle class. Booming. People in this level are moved to higher level within 10-15 years.

Middle class. Have some spare money. They do not have many avenue to invest and save. So most of these people invest in real estate and make housing unaffordable for have-nots.

Measuring by per capita income puts level 1,2,3 in same bucket but there is lot of difference in these level and they cannot be bracketed together. Unless we realise this, poverty at two lowest bracket cannot be improved much.

As Technology is growing rapidly day by day, the development of country is also increasing from past few days, Even though there is development in various aspects, some aspects which country is still facing is poverty, unemployment, education etc. All of these poverty is one of the major problem in country,There are many people still living under poverty in the country, The rich people are growing rich and poor are getting poor in the country. There are many people who don't have proper necessities to sustain in their daily life. Although government is providing some schemes it's not reaching up to the mark. Due to these things countries GDP will be decreased. A country is said to be developed based on the GDP rate. Even though there is increase in technology aspects without development of GDP increase India will be in developing list only. I think government and rich business tychoons should come forward and make them educated so that country will become a developed country.
