a preposition is a word which is used before a noun to show the relationship of the person or a thing denoted by the noun or pronoun to other words in the sentence.
example:- in, on, under, about, etc..
there are four kinds of preposition
i) simple preposition
ii) compound preposition
iii) phrase preposition
iv) participal preposition
A preposition is a part of speech which is used to show the relation of one noun or pronoun to another in a sentence and is usually placed before the word which expresses the object of the relation.
1.There is a cow in the field.( preposition = in)
2.Put the book on the table.(preposition = on)
3.Japan is famous for its electronics.(preposition = for)
4.She met before class.( preposition = before)
5.The frog jumped into the river.( preposition = into)

1. It usually shows the relationship of words or phrases with other word in the sentence with regard to space,time or reason.
2.A preposition usually comes before a noun often.However ,a preposition does not come directly before a noun as there may be determiners or adjectives between them.
3.When the object is the Relative pronoun that; or an interrogative pronoun or a Relative pronoun,which is not given but understood,Preposition comes after the word it governs;as -
