Thermal conduction is the transfer on internal energy by microscopic collisions of particles and movement of electrons within a body.
Answer:
process of thermal conduction
in solid----
1). when one end of a rod is heated, the molecules near the hot end receive the thermal energy and start oscillating with large amplitudes.
2). in doing so, they collide with the neighbouring molecules and transfer a part of their energy to these molecules..
3). the molecules which receive the energy vibrate with increase in amplitudes and collide with the neighbouring molecules.
4). as the distance of a molecules from hot end increases its amplitudes of oscillaton decreases and hence there is continuous decrease in the temperature.
5) this transfer of heat continues till two ends of the object are at the same temperature..
6). in metals mainly free electrons conduct the heat energy..
