(1) Eukaryotes have split genes.

(2) Primary transcript or hnRNA is non- functional and contains both exons and introns.

(3) Processing of hnRNA results in functional m-RNA.

(4) hnRNA undergoes capping tailing and splicing

(a) Capping : Methylated guanosine tri phosphate is added to 5" end of hnRNA.

(b) Tailing: Polyadenylation take place at 3' end.

(c) Splicing: It is removal of introns.

(d) DNA ligase joins exons in a definite sequence (order).

(5) The fully processed hnRNA is called m-RNA.

(6) m-RNA comes out of the nucleus through nuclear pore for getting translated.
