Explain Ramanuja's view on the relationship between World, Jiva and Brahman.

Answer:
I have looked into the concepts of Ramanuja and Madhva, supporting many of the ideas with quotes from their commentaries on the Amsadhikarana Sutras (mentioned by Ramanuja). The notion of separateness and oneness addressed, as well as the two parties’ understanding of the relationship of jivas as amsas of the Isvara (Brahman). Ramanuja’s view was interesting in the sense that he attributed some type of difference but his major focus was that of unity. Madhva, on the other hand, did note at times some kind of unity but very much stressed the separateness. It almost seems just to say that in Ramanuja’s doctrine jivas are parts on the inside of Brahman and that in Madhva’s doctrine jivas are parts on the outside of Brahman (something like an extension). The two seem to do a lot of work at separating themselves from Sankara’s philosophy (that which I did not touch so much in this essay) and, besides this point, they come into unity in their sentiments in the sense that they have a lot of awe and respect for the Isvara, from their position as jivas, and that despite whether they find themselves as separate or intact, they very much appreciate the supremacy of Brahman over themselves.
