When the bullet is fired from the gun, it experiences a force in forward direction (action) , as a result the gun exerts a backward force (reaction) on the shoulder. Thus, it is in accordance with Newton's 3rd law of motion

- The recoil of gun is one of the best demonstration of action and reaction forces (3rd law of motion).
- When a bullet is fired from a gun, the gun move backward.
- The action force exerted due to firing is in the forwarding direction that causes the bullet to move ahead.
- The jérk felt on the gun that pulls it in the backward direction exist due to reaction force , this is the reason why a person operating a gun takes the support of his shoulder to avoid the injury.
