when a bullet is fired from gun the gas produced in the barrel exerts a tremendous force .

As a result the bullet move forward with a great velocity called the muzzle velocity .

The bullet at the same time exerts and equal force on the gun in the opposite direction.

Due to this the gun most backward this backward motion of the gun called the required of the guns the velocity with which the gun moves backward is called recoil velocity.
