\huge\bf{Answer :}

The phenomena of bouncing back of sound when it beats a hard surface is known as Reflection of Sound. The rigid and solid surface are considered as the best reflectors of the sound. The sound waves are much more longer than the light waves and hence , they requires a large and sufficient area for it's reflection.

Laws of Reflection of Sound :

  • The normal , reflected sound and the incident sound , all are supposed to be lied on the same plane.
  • The angle of incidence of sound is always equal to the angle of reflection of the sound.

Note - These laws of reflection of sound is exactly similar to the laws of reflection which can be seen in the light.

Application of Reflection of Sound :

  • Stethoscope - This medical instrument works under the principal of reflection of sound. The doctor inserts the earpiece of the stethoscope in his ears and the chest peice located at the other end of stethoscope is placed into the part of patient's body which is to be checked or examined. For example , if the chest peice is placed near the heart to examine it , then the heart beat of the patient is clearly audible to the doctor due multiple reflection of the sound waves that travels through the stethoscope.
