When light is made to pass thru the prism, the white light splits into its seven constituent colours, also called the spectrum. this phenomenon is referred to as dispersion. the speed of light of the differenent colored components of light(vibgyor) varies, hence the different colored lights bend at different angles with respect to the angle of Incidence. one can find a clear demarcation in the splitting up of white light into its spectrum thru this process.
