Refraction is one of the phenomena of light in which light bends or changes its direction when it travels from one transparent medium to another transparent medium...

This change in direction due to change in velocity of light...

Remenmber that velocity of light remain constant in a particular medium but when it changes it medium its velocity changes accordingly...

There are many wonderful phenomena link to refraction...some of them are as follow

=> Twinkling of stars

=> Actual depth of Swimming pool or river is more than apparant depth

=> bending of straw or pencil when it immersed in water

=> Cannot catch fish using ur hand easily due to refraction..

=> apparnt position of stars and Sun and so on..

Refraction Light waves bend as they pass from one substance to another. Refraction is the bending of a light or sound wave, or the way the light bends when entering the eye to form an image on the retina.
An example of refraction is a bending of the sun's rays as they enter raindrops, forming a rainbow.
