This is a type of democracy in which representatives are elected by the people. It is opposite to Direct Democracy. Representative democracy is also known as Indirect Democracy or Psephocracy. In our country, Indirect Democracy is adopted. Roman Republic was the first to have Representative Democracy in the world.
