Reproduction -
steps included in it -
1)fertilization- It is the process of fusion of male gamete (sperm) and female gamete (ovum) to produce a zygote ( a single cell produced after fertilization).
2)Development of embryo or embryonic development - The development of zygote into an individual is called embryonic development.
[Zygote➡️Morula➡Balstocyst➡️Embryo ➡️Foetus]
3) Gestation period -The duration or time period between fertilization and birth is called gestation period or pregnancy. It lasts forever 280 days or 9 months in human beings.
4) Formation of foetus - From the third month until birth, the developing organism is called foetus.
The foetus is connected to the uterus of mother through a structure called placenta. Through placenta the developing foetus recives food, nutrients and water from the mother. Carbondioxide and other wastes from the foetus also pass into the mother's blood through placenta.
The foetus is connected to the placenta through a cord like structure called umbilical cord. It is surrounded by a a sac-like structure called amniotic fluid which acts like a cushion and protects the baby from mechanical injures.
5)Delivery-At last the foetus is then delivered through the cervix opening called vagina.
