Step-by-step explanation:

Resistance is defined as the property of a conductor to resist the flow of charges through it. The resistance of conductor is numerically given as the ratio of potential difference across its length to the current flowing through it.

Resistance of a Conductor:-

________________________

The obstruction offered to the flow of current by a conductor is called resistance .

________________________

The causes which provides resistance :-

  • When a metal is form its atom lose electrons from its outer orbit . A metal has a large number of a vending electrons and an equal number of fix positive ion .
  • The positive ions to not move while the electrons move almost freely inside the metals these electrons are called free electrons they moves at random colliding amongst themselves and with a positive ions in any direction as they want .
  • The net force of electron in any direction is zero so no current flows .
  • When the ends of the metal wires are connected to a cell when a potential difference is applied across the ends of the metal wire the electrons inside it experience of force in the direction from the end at negative potential towards the end of for positive potential .
  • Due to the force their speed increases but during the movement they collide with the fixed positive ions and the losers some of their kinetic energy due to which their speed decreases this lost energy heats up the wire .
  • After the collision they are against accelerated towards the positive potential due to existing potential difference of their speed against increases and then again in collusion with a positive ion .
  • As the result electrons do not move in bulk with continuous increasing speed but there is an overall drift of electrons towards the positive terminal does a metal wire offers some resistance to flow of electrons through it .

The resistance of a conductor depends on the number of illusions suffered by the electrons with the positive Ion while moving from one into another.
