On the basis of their stage of development, resources can be classified into two categories. They are- potential resources and actual resources.

Explanation:

• Potential resources- This resources are present around us ,but they are not tapped. This may be due to non- availability of technology or means. However, this resources can be used in the future . Ocean tides ,waterfalls and rivers are some examples of potential resources.

• Actual resources- These are the resources that are being used by humans. Their existence has been proved and their location quantity and quality has been determined .Coal ,petroleum ,uranium etc.come under this category .This resources may not be fully exploited due to the limitations of the available technology .
