Explanation:

Respiration is the process by which energy is released from food in our body. The function of respiratory system is to breathe in oxygen for respiration producing energy from food, and to breathe out carbon dioxide. With the help of lungs gases are exchanged between the blood and the air.

  • As we inhale, The air goes down our windpipe.
  • The Wind pipe branches into 2 bronchi.
  • These Bronchi are made with further branches called bronchioles.
  • Many ball like structures are present in the bronchioles called alveoli.
  • The Lungs are made up of the bronchi, bronchioles and alveoli.
  • The diaphragm helps in the contraction and relaxation of the lung which gives it support.
  • The inhaled air travels to all parts of our body via blood and is exhaled out.
