A body is said to be at rest if its position does not change with respect to its surroundings. Whereas, when the position of a body changes with respect to its surroundings, it is said to be in motion. The state of rest and motion of the body is relative to each other.

MOTION:- a body is said to be in motion when it changes its position continuously with respect to its surrounding and with the passage of time .e.g. a moving car and a moving boat .
