Question:-
Explain the importance of the Himalayas and the Indian Ocean with respect to the climate of India.
Answer:-
If India doesn’t have Himalayas, the country would probably experience two type of climate. The temperate climate in the north and tropical climate in the south.
Most of monsoon winds are created from the Indian ocean are capable of moving north and the Himalayan mountains are capable of blocking the cold winds from moving apart from the country,
Apart from the trade winds India’s climate is majorly influenced by Himalayas and the Indian Ocean.
Thanks
Hope it helps uhh..
1. Very cold winds blowing from the north are obstructed by the Himalayas
2. Due to high temperature in summer, low pressure area is developed in India
3. This attract the winds coming from the high pressure region in the Indian ocean which starts blowing towards the mainland of India
3. These moisture laden winds are obstructed by Himalayas giving heavy precipitation on the Indian side
4. Proximity to the Himalayas in the north and Indian ocean in the south has made India a monsoon type of climate
