Rotary pump :

A Rotary Pump is a type of pump that is capable of pumping more liquid than reciprocating pumps with the same weight.

Rotary Pumps have working members which move in rotary or both reciprocating and rotary motions to displace a liquid. This displacement is because of the periodic changes in the volume of cylinders and chambers filled by the liquid. The pumps are used for pumping oils and various other heavy viscous liquids. They are preferred for large torque values and low rational speeds. The classification of these types of pumps depends on the types of rotating elements and they include:

  • Lobar pumps
  • Screw pumps
  • Gear pumps
  • Labyrinth pumps
  • Vane pumps and swash-plate
  • Radial-plunger pumps.
