According to the Rutherford atomic model: The positively charged particles and most of the mass of an atom was concentrated in an extremely small volume. Rutherford model proposed that the negatively charged electrons surround the nucleus of an atom.
Rutherford once performed an experiment by pass alpha particles from gold and he noticed that some particles pass through it pass through it , some comes back and some goes to sideward directions. According to this observation, he describes his model as in the centre of atom there is nucleus which contains protons(+ve charge) and rest of the cell is filled with electrons which revolves around the nucleus.But his limitation was that he didn't got that if the electrons are revolving around the nucleus then why they did not come out of the orbits in which they revolve.
