Features of Gymnosperms:

  • Gymnosperms are naked seeded plants.

  • Fruit is not formed in them

  • They are mainly found in cold regions

  • Almost all gymnosperms are Xerophytes. (they need little water to survive)

  • The leaves of gymnosperms are adapted to withstand extreme temperatures, humidity and wind.

  • Their leaves have thick cuticle, and sunken stomata.

  • All gymnosperms are vascular plants.

  • The xylem of gymnosperms lacks vessels

  • All gymnosperms are heterosporus.

  • In gymnosperms the male and female gamatophyte don't have independent existence.

  • Life cycle of gymnosperms is diplontic.
