In the measured value of physical quantity tell the number of digit in which we have confidence.
Larger the no. of significant figures greater is the accuracy of measurement.
◆ Rules of significant figure :
● All non zero digit are significant.
for ex. :- 312 = 3 significant figure
● All zeroes occurring between two non zero digit are significant.
For ex.:- 5005 = 5 significant figure.
● In a no. less than one all zeroes to the right of the decimal points & to the left of a non zero are not significant.
For ex.:- 0.0068 = 2 significant figure
● All zeroes of the right of a last non zero digit in the decimal part are significant .
For ex.:- 1.00 = 3 significant figure.
● All zeroes on the right of non zero digit are not significant.
For ex.:- 6000 = 1 significant figure
