Small scale industry is an extended form of a cottage industry. The manufacturing is done by machines in addition to manpower. It requires small Machines driven by power, small amount of capital investment and less human labour. The basic raw materials is obtained from outside if not available in local market and its finished products are sold in open market through traders. For example paper,goods, stores, furniture ,edible oil, leather products etc.

small scale industry also known as MSMEs are defined and categorised by the micro small and medium enterprises development act 2006 .the act categorised different scale of industry on the basis of advertise ment in plant and machinery in case of manufacturing industries and in the basis of investment in equipment in the case of service sector industry.
