We can reduce wastage of water in some agricultural activities by improving the water retaining capacity of soil and certain irrigation methods.

Some irrigation methods that reduce usage of water are:-

• Drip irrigation systems - It is a system of irrigation through a system of pipes above or below soil through which drops of water are dripped slowly to the root of plants. It reduces evaporation and keeps soil wet constantly.
• Sprinkler systems - Sprinklers are placed on the field and they sprinkle water on crops. it creates rainfall like dripping of water on crops and water wastage can be reduced by efficient supply of adequate amount of water.

Water flow meters which measures the required amount of water for crops helps as to provide only the sufficient amount of water.We can also plant crops according to the weather conditions of the place and effectively reduce water wastage.
