SONAR :- SOUND NAVIGATION AND RANGING.

  • Sonar is a device which is used in boats, ships etc to detect depth of sea or objects underwater.
  • It is also use to navigate or communicate.
  • sounds having frequency greater than 20,000 Hz are used in sonar because
  • Ultrasonic waves can penetrate water to long distances
  • because of their high frequency and very short wavelength, but this sound waves cannot penetrate water to such long distances.
