squamous epithelium

  • The skin, which protects the body is made up of squamous epithelium. It is further divided as   columnar epithelium,  ciliated columnar, simple squamous epithelium, glandular epithelium, cuboidal epithelium.

columnar epithelium.

  • It is made up of tail, pillar like cells.
  • it has elongated nulcei.
  • found in inner lining of small intestine.
  • facilitates movements across epithelial barrier.

✴️it is single layered thick with irregular boundaries.

✴️its main function is in the formation of diffusion boundaries

✴️ex. lining of blood vessels , alveoli of lungs , Bowman's capsule ,etc .

<b><u>Columnar epithelium</u></b> ---

✴️it is formed of single layer of tall slender cells

✴️its main function is in secretion and absorption

✴️it is found in stomach , intestine , fallopian tube , etc .
