Hey.. see all elements in the periodic table have different atomic number which is equal to number of protons and equal to number of electrons .. when element have 8 in the valence electron or outer shell it is termed as stable and if less than 8 and more than 0 then unstable ... only unstable elements combine with other metals ...

stable are those which have all electronics required by them.the noble gases are stable because they need no more elextons.the electrons are as 2,8,8,18,32.
ex-in neon its stable bcuae it has electrons it required 2,8.it is stable.
the element's which are not in sequence of2,8,8,18,32 they are not stable.they need to do sharing .
