When we beat the carpet with a stick carpet starts moving, but the dust particles remains at its state of rest and separated from the carpet. @ With a quick pull, a table cloth can be removed from a dining table without disturbing dishes on it due to the Inertia of rest

Answer:

Inertia of rest means that an object at rest will remain at rest unless an external force is applied. Or it is the tendency of the objects to remain in the state of rest.

Ex- When a branch of a tree is Shaken vigorously to and fro then, the leaves of the tree always fall down kn the ground because of their inertia of rest, the leaves resists the action of our force on itself and remain at a fixed position.

Hope it is clear to you, and if not then comment your problem.

Thank you!!
