Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

alex counted 2400 by 6's with 6 beginning

an=a+(n-1)d

an=2400,a=6,d=1

substituting the values

2400=6+(n-1)

n-1=2400-6

n-1=2394

n=2395

matthew counted 2400 in 4's beginning with 4

an=a+(n-1)d

an=2400,a=4,d=1

substituting the values

2400=4+(n-1)1

n-1=2396

n=2397

alex and matthew together counted 2395+2397=4792

Answer:

In order to find number counted by Alex which was also counted by Matthew we have find no. counted by Alex and Matthew individually .

For Alex , he started with 6 and went to 2400.

Numbers of counted by Alex in between = 2400 /6  = > 400

For Matthew , he started with 4 and went to 2400 .

Numbers of counted in between = 2400 / 4 = > 600.

Now , numbers counted by Alex were also counted by Matthew = 600 - 400

= > 200.

Hence , we get answer 200 .
