As given ,
A insect crawls 5cm on 1 second and on next second it falls by 2 cm .
It means total distance covered by it in 2 seconds is 5+(-2)
=5-2
=3 cm per 2 second is speed of that insect .
So per second it will take 3/2 seconds i.e. 1.5 seconds .
Now we have to find out time it will take to cover a 60 cm vertical pole.
So time taken by insect to cover a 60 cm vertical pole is = 60÷1.5
= 40 seconds .
It takes 40 seconds to complete distance but to reach distance it will take 40-1 seconds
= 39 seconds .
THUS PROVED
