Measures taken by government to improve literacy condition in India are:
1) Free education is provided in rural areas . Poverty being the main reason for children not being sent to school, hence the Government is keen at providing the primary right of proper education to children free of cost.
2) Schemes such as Sarva Siksha Aviyan Scheme provide free education. Mid Day meal scheme provides food for the students. As children are getting food, parents are sending them to school.
3) Scholarships are provided to increase the interest of students. School uniforms, text books and some other necessary things related to study are provided to student without any cost.

There are various steps taken up by the government to improve the Literacy rate throughout the country,
1. Providing education to the poor people living in Urban areas at a low cost, through government run schools.
2. In rural areas, by explaining them the importance of education and how it can change the life of their families by organising various events.
3. Even if, the people from rural areas do not send their kids, government has given another incentive by providing a Mid day meal, wherein the student who attends the school gets a meal in lunch time.
4. Various campaigns like Beti Back Beti Padhao are initiated to ensure that people are aware and send there Children to schools for formal education.
In the end, padhega India tabhi toh Badhega India !
