Explanation:

Stress Strain Curve

✍ It is the graphical representation of stress versus strain .

\Large \text{Explaination\: For\: Stress\: Strain\: Curve }Explaination For Stress Strain Curve

✍ Explaination For Stress - Strain Curve refer the above Attached File .

✍ when the stress is zero strain is also zero .

✍ When the stress is gradually increased, strain also increases linearly up to a certain point (A) called proportional limit.

✍ Therefore, in the region OA Hool's law is obeyed with in this region the body regains its original state on removal of stress .

✍ Beyond A , the strain increases rapidly upto B. The region AB the strain is permanent on removal of stress .

✍ Then the wire is said to be acquired 'permanent set' . Therefore, in the region AB hooks law is not obeyed .

✍ Beyond B the material exhibits elastic behaviour. i.e in the region BC the material continues to elongate even for small increase in stress . Therefore in the region BC Hooke's law is not obeyed .

✍ If the material is wire, beyond C the wire elongates even if the longitudinal stress is not applied. Finally the wire breaks at the point D called breaking point of the wire
