Sher Shah Suri (1486 – 22 May 1545), born Farīd Khān, was the founder of the Suri Empire in India, with its capital in Sasaram in modern-day Bihar. He introduced the currency of rupee. An ethnic Afghan ruler, Sher Shah took control of the Mughal Empire in 1540.

This is what I know about Suri Sultanate in India....
Sur dynasty, Afghan family that ruled in northern India from 1540 to 1556. Its founder, Sher Shah of Sur, was descended from an Afghan adventurer recruited by Sultan Bahlul Lodi of Delhi during his long contest with the Sharqi sultans of Jaunpur.
