Explain the achievements of Indian national congress.

First of all the Congress party played a major role in liberation of India from the British.

After that I would like to state some points which can be termed as achievements in my opinion.

1- Green Revolution in the 1960s. After independence we were not a self sustaining Nation we had to import grains,foods etc. But after Green Revolution we were able to feed ourselves without depending on food imports.

2- White Revolution- it was the world's largest daily development program which made India worlds largest milk producer from a milk deficient Nation . It started in 1970-80s.

Although this doesn't mean that everything was done by the Congress government but as India is an Agrarian economy back then these two revolutions played an important role in strengthening the backbone of the country which is Agriculture. These things don't happen unless you have support of the government.

3- Liberation of Bangladesh- Then Prime Minister  Indira Gandhi made this possible. It was only under her government that this happened. She stood firmly with the people of East Pakistan( now Bangladesh) who were suppressed by the militia and Government of Pakistan.

She also played an important role in Protecting our nation's integrity when demand for a separate state of Sikhs was made.

4-Economic Reforms of 1991 - Then Finance Minister Dr Manmohan Singh introduced a series of economic reforms which made India a part of Globalisation and Privatisation. This helped in increase of FDI in our economy and resulted in economic growth of our Nation.

These are few things I think that Congress has done good.There was economic growth even in the first term of Dr. Manmohan Singh's first tenure. In his second term as a prime minister out growth was hampered.

Fragile leadership, corruption, communal politics, scams which sucked in Tax Payers money and controversial politicians has turned Congress Party into a turmoil.  It is no longer the Party that it once was and doesn't stand for the values that it was founded on.
