Explain the action of dilute sulphuric acid on the following with chemical equation:
i. Magnesium ribbon ii. Sodium Hydroxide iii. Crushed egg shells

1. metal + acid = salt + h2

ie. 2Mg + 2HCl -----> 2MgCl + h2

2. base + acid -----> salt + water

ie. 2NaOH + 2HCL -----> 2 NaCl + 2H2O

3. egg shell is calcium carbonate (CaCO3)

metal carbonate + acid -----> salt + CO2 + H2O

ie. CaCO3 + 2HCl -----> CaCl2 + CO2 + 2H2O
