Explanation:

As we all know that in AC current the two terminals changes periodically into +ve and - ve terminals. And from this we know that current will reverse its direction everytime....... So when the diodes are in forward biased the circuit connect s and when the diode is in reverse biased it does not connects. And like this only half of the ac current which forms forward bias are rectified and the other half is not rectified... Thus a diode is a half wave rectifier
