FOOD CORPORATION OF INDIA:
The Food Corporation of India (FCI) is the main agency responsible for the execution of the food policies of Central Government. Functions of the FCI primarily relate to the purchase, storage, movement, transportation, distribution and sale of food-grains on behalf of the Central Government. It is also engaged in the handling, storing and distribution of sugar for some States. The Government of India lays down the prices of food-grains which are to be purchased/procured and issued, the incidental charges and the quantum of allotment to the States, as also other relevant policy matters.
