Muhammad Tughluq's administrative measures were a failure

Explanation:

  • He advocated for a total tragedy in Kashmir. He increased his army to assault Transoxiana. But he agreed to drop his preparations for Transoxiana conquest and to dismantle his massive army.
  • His disciplinary decisions have caused several issues. In the southern Daulatabad which is the new capital, he moved citizens of the old town. The people were not involved in this move taken by Muhammad Tughluq.
  • To offset the expense of retaining a large number of soldiers, Tughluq levied additional charges that increased the expense of ordinary citizens. In order to feed the army, Ganga Yamuna district raised taxes. The Sultan, however, levied new taxes to address the needs of a vast number of the troops, particularly certain regions suffering from starvation. The drought of the Ganga-Yamuna has led to a mass revolt.
  • The 'token' money scheme was a further disappointment during the government of Muhammad Tughluq's. He paid in cash for the troops, never tested the rates. He introduced a token scheme today without royal authentication, including paper money, except it was made from inexpensive metals instead of gold and silver. People from the 14th century did not trust this currency. You were so smart. They had saved silver and gold coins in the token money and paid the state all their taxes. It could also be conveniently forged with this cheap currency

Ghiyas-ud-din sent the young Muhammad to the Deccan to campaign against king Prataparudra of the Kakatiya dynasty whose capital was at Warangal in 1321 and 1323.

Muhammad has been described as an "inhuman eccentric" with bizarre character by the accounts of visitors during his rule.

He is also known for wild policy swings.

Muhammad ascended to the Delhi throne upon his father's death in 1325. He was interested in medicine and was skilled in several languages — Persian, Arabic, Turkish and Sanskrit.

Ibn Battuta, the famous traveler and jurist from Morocco, was a guest at his court and wrote about his suzerainty in his book.
